Tidal rolls out Internet-enabled thermocouple monitor
TCweb is a 16-channel thermocouple monitoring system that provides high flexibility and functionality in temperature acquisition instruments. It connects to the Internet via built-in 10Base-T Ethernet communication port or optional 56KB fax modem.

As such, it is configurable to automatically send e-mail reports and alert for messages, as well as create and serve HTML report pages to any browser with a built-in Web server. The built-in modem option allows reports and alarms to be transmitted to fax machines.

The system acquires, analyzes and furnishes precise data for up to 16 units that may be connected in a master/slave RS-485 daisy-chain. This configuration allows up to 256 sensors to be monitored on a single Web server.

Thermocouple-type indication and alarms may be set for each individual channel to facilitate increased flexibility in configuring the instrument. TCweb is suitable for applications such as environmental chamber monitoring and validation, drug and food storage monitoring, heat treatment monitoring, and air-conditioning and central heating product testing. It is also designed for automotive R&D testing, domestic and commercial refrigeration, cookers, stoves and heater product tests.

The system supports J, E, K, R, S, T, B, N and C thermocouples and boasts 0.1°C display resolution. Temperature measurements can be made up to 16 times/s with values reported in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. It incorporates built-in cold junction compensation and provides two D/A output channels to transmit two analog voltages for charting. A Form C alarm relay can be programmed to operated under specified conditions to enhance an audible or visual annunciator.

Other specifications include: operating temperature range, 0°C to 60°C; power requirement, 3.5W at 9Vdc to 28Vdc; and dimensions, 177.8-by-127-by-41.28mm. It features a backlit LCD and may be ordered with up to 8MB nonvolatile Flash memory for data logging.

Pricing starts at $695 each.
